Just got back from lunch with Kayla who I work with at Nike. She asked me on Sunday if i wanted to hang out. Just after I had written this. Go figure! Also, right after I had written that post, Emily and I talked and she wants to go to this with me. That in itself is pretty amazing, because some of you who have been reading my blog for a while will remember some drama I had with some co-workers at Nike back in the spring. Emily was one of them and for a while we never even talked. It's a long story so I won't bore you with the details, but suffice to say there have been some good things happening (to overshadow the bad) with relationships in my life lately. I'm very thankful for that!!
Tonight I'm looking forward to burning off some stress. Kristen and I are going to go run 6 miles in Peter's Canyon and her sister is going to join us so that will be fun. I had a stressful morning at work so our 6PM run can't come soon enough!! At least I only have one more day before I leave for Minnesota.
Speaking of that - can I really not carry my lip gloss on the plane? Or my M.A.C. compact? Geesh. What's a girl to do? Crazy new guidelines. They also better be prepared to bring me like 15 of those teensy tiny little glasses of water because I drink a lot of it on those dry planes. I wonder what would happen if I try to sneak a bottle in my carry on? Nah.. I don't want to get stuck in security or pushed up against a wall as a suspected terrorist ;)
And on a more personal note.... I'm not a big fan of regular deodorant. I have been using natural deodorant for a while now so I don't put all those nasty chemicals on my skin - especially the aluminum. However, I have discovered (very early on I must add), that I need to put that stuff on like 3 times a day because it doesn't last. Well... low and behold a new discovery I have made! I started using this a couple days ago and it's been amazing so far. I don't stink all day. Yay! And it's supposed to last for a year. It's clear, nasty-chemical free. All the good stuff. So if you are looking for a natural deodorant check this out! It's unisex so have at it guys and girls.
Oh - and I'm really looking forward to a run in Minnesota this weekend. I haven't run there in over 18 months now. I found a park with some trails in Apple Valley near where I'll be staying with my mom, and I plan to do 8-10 miles there. It will be interesting to see what the trails are like - and how "flat" they are compared to the running I'm used to!
Happy Running,
Jessica
just when you thought you weren't cool enough, the invites come rolling! almost makes me jealous. I don't have girlfriends knocking down my door! then I remember how anti-social I am. :) glad things are looking better lately.
minnesota eh? cool. take pictures of home life. i want to see. All I konw about Minnesota is that 'the women are strong. the men are good looking, and the children are above average.'

Jessica,
I used that crystal deodorant for years - I stopped a couple of years ago because it seemed like I kept getting flawed ones with ragged chunks that scratched me. I did think it worked pretty well!

Two of my friends claim that since they started running long distances last year, that they sweat more than they used to (when they aren't running). I don't know if there is any scientific basis to this whatsoever, but one of these friends is a HS teacher so she is pretty much mortified about this on a daily basis... How does your new stuff work in the that department?

P.S. I love that I just learned a new word from your entry title!

Annti-social or not I'm still not as cool as you Miki :P
Danielle - I sweat a lot when I run. Tonight was my first run after starting to use the new stuff and I don't stink much at all after running 5 miles :) Impressive stuff! It's not an anti-perspirent though. Just deoderant.

Oh wierd Danielle. I wonder if the sweating thing is true because it has happened to me in the last 6 months or so when I really started upping the miles for the ultras. I have been attributing it to having gone off the pill but maybe there's another reason. I was having severe night sweats for a while, now it's mild. And I notice that I sweat a lot more easily during the day and much more on my runs. I drink a lot more too as a result. Water, that is. :)

"the rock" rocks! i have two versions of it: the long lasting rock and the liquid version, which doesn't last as long but the roll-on version doesn't need wetting so you can take it on your purse, although as you've promptly found out, it doesn't need to be re-applied throughout the day. i can be a stinker too, and it's not all the time that i can go for a run right in the middle of the day and take a shower before going on with the day. the rock does come in handy. (plus i don't agree with the "anti-perspirant" philosophy. gunk should be allowed to get out of our systems. not trapped inside. it allows you to sweat and not stink. a double winner!
